Today at the school I work at, I brought 'Nakd Cocoa Delight Bites', to use as a reward for good behavior and/ or to allow students to try some vegan food.
These are made predominantly of dates, cashews and raisins, with cacao powder for chocolate flavoring (yes I checked before whether they were allergic to nuts).
Bought these from a supermarket for only £2.20, although they have moderate to high fat levels, they are worlds healthier than lollies/ chocolate, and similar cost. You get about 20/30 pieces in a packet.
A kid who had never tried anything like this rated them 7 out of 10 on the first try (yet asked for more at the end of the lesson). It was refreshing to see my students take an open mind to trying them, which surprised me.
I would rate these a 5/10 in terms of nutritional value due to the fat levels, but at least they are whole foods.
But in terms of a reward for a student/ child, or even as a snack on a long ride or run, I would rate 8/10 in terms of taste, price and functionality.
All in all a good experiment..
